Moonstone Midwifery

Paige is the Midwife behind Moonstone Midwifery. She has been a certified birth doula since 2014. She is a CPM through the state of Maryland. Her passion for undisturbed birth at home is reflected in care that reduces preventable interventions. She supports her clients in making their own informed choices and strive to offer information to my clients that is grounded in research.

Home birth midwives attend low risk births at home, as well as caring for the mothers in both their prenatal and postnatal journey.

What does it look like to work with Moonstone Midwifery?

First you will get to have a complimentary consultation to meet your midwife and answer any questions you may have.

During your first and second trimester you have monthly visits. From 28 to 36 weeks you will meet every two weeks. From the final month of pregnancy until birth you will meet weekly.

She will help you write and review your desired birth plan and will honor your birth plan.

You will have unlimited contact with them via phone, text or email throughout your pregnancy and postpartum.

During labor

Labor support in your home by the following measures:

  • Physical comfort measures
  • Emotional support
  • Utilizing labor coping skills
  • Massage
  • Aromatherapy
  • Rebozo and other non-pharmacological pain relief techniques
  • Positioning suggestions
  • Helping your partner be a part of comforting you or be able to step in when your partner needs a break

Moonstone Midwifery uses a “hands-off” midwifery approach, meaning they will be assisting only when needed or requested

Post Partum care:

After your baby is born Moonstone Midwifery will:

  • Assess on mother and baby
  • Assistance with breastfeeding
  • Complete a newborn exam
  • A minimum of three postpartum visits around two days, two weeks, and six weeks
  • First neonatal weight check and PKU collected in client’s home
  • Additional postpartum support as needed,
  • Direct communication with the pediatrician of your choosing
  • Help with filling out the birth certificate paperwork
  • Dedicated billing services working to obtain maximum reimbursements

Moonstone Midwifery is a CPM (certified professional midwife). A CPM has restrictions such as not being able to perform a VBAC, twin births or breech births. Also if you should become a high risk pregnancy you would “risk out” and no longer be able to be under the direct care of a midwife for your delivery. A high risk pregnancy includes things such as pregnancy-induced hypertension, pre-eclampsia, severe anemia, placenta previa, preterm labor, gestational diabetes that is not diet controlled, and other medical complications. You would still receive educational and emotional support from your CPM through your pregnancy and birth as requested.
