Outfit planning help for your photography session

Figuring out what to wear for your photography session can be stressful! So many families were asking for advice or feedback on outfits planning. When I am working with a client, I want every step to be easy. As moms we have enough going on everyday, planning for a session shouldn’t have to add to that list of things to do!

I am super excited to offer styling help and a client closet. I have already received so much great feedback about how easy and helpful this has been. Since this is not very common to offer as a photographer, I thought I would take some time to explain how exactly the process of having me help style your family works!

When styling is included

Each session includes a styling link that allows you to start planning your families outfits with the help of a styling program. You will choose the preferred clothing style, colors and sizes. From there outfit suggestions for each family member will be generated with links for you to simply click and buy.

The Custom styling service add on ($100) includes outfit planning done for you! I use the program above but also go outside those clothing options to other stores to find more custom pieces to include on your style board. Below you will find out more about the process of how I get to know our families style so I can make recommendations that are best suited for you. Once you receive your style all you have to do is click and buy!

Learning your families style – *Custom styling add on

The first step is to fill out my styling questionnaire. This helps me get to know your desired style and be able to create a style board that best suits your family and is going to be most convenient for you. Some of the questions are:

  • having you choose a color palette from recommend season colors
  • sizes
  • love and hate colors/clothing to avoid for each family member
  • budget for outfits
  • how you plan to shop – online vs in store
  • client closet items you’d like to try on
  • preferred style : casual, romantic, urban

Creating your style board

After reviewing your styling questionnaire I start working on your style board keeping all the answers in mind. I shop from varying stores depending if you are ordering online or want to shop in stores. I will include different colors from your chosen color palette which can all be mix and matched. It is really good for getting an over all idea of how everyone will look . Each item has a link so when you see something you love, all you have to do is click on the item to order.

I always like to remind my families that the style board is as much a shopping guide as an inspiration board. By all means, if there is something similar in your closet you can totally use that. Or reference the style board when you go shopping to find your own items that are similar colors and style now that you have an overall idea.

Client Closet – Included for all sessions

If you see something you are loving from my client closet, we will incorporate that into the styling board. As long as the item(s) are available, I will drop them off for you to try on over a weekend. I like to do this at least a month in advance so that you have time to order/plan otherwise if you do not end up using the item. I have a portable changing tent that I can bring to your session that allows for you to change into and out of the clothing. I have both family and maternity dresses available.

Hopefully this help give you an idea of how I can help you plan outfits for your session and how my client closet works. I am always looking for new items to add and updating my inventory. Current outfits can be found at https://jholseyphotography.com/client-closet
